Abstract

Interview conducted with Professor Sebastião Pimentel Franco, a prominent researcher in the history of health and disease in Brazil. The historian discusses his entry into this field during his postdoctoral studies, when he investigated the cholera epidemic in Espírito Santo. He highlights the importance of graduate programs and the Brazilian National History Association (ANPUH) in expanding and regionalizing research in this area. He also presents the trajectory of the Colloquium on the History of Diseases, held annually at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, as well as the challenges of funding the event. Finally, he discusses the “Histórias nas Redes” project, a successful public history initiative that promoted online broadcasts and resulted in the publication of books on different historical topics.
