Abstract

This article analyzes violence against the LGBTQIA+ population in Brazil as a historical and structural phenomenon, resulting from the articulation between patriarchy, racism, capitalism, and heterosexism. Based on a literature review, it discusses how these structures produce inequalities, exclusions, and violence that especially affect dissident bodies. It uses intersectionality as an analytical tool to understand how multiple oppressions intersect and intensify. It demonstrates that heterosexism functions as a power device that legitimizes discriminatory practices. It concludes by defending the need for public policies and social actions that confront these structures and promote full citizenship.
