Abstract

This article intends to deconstruct the myth of isolation behind the Iron Curtain, showing how the former German Democratic Republic transnationally instrumentalized, in a context of Cold War dispute, the conspiracy theories about HIV/AIDS that emerged within the gay movement in the USA.
