Abstract

Icó and Sobral were the most important urban centers in the hinterland of Ceará during the colonial and provincial time. Their Town Hall and Jail still preserve the external form they had in the last quarter of the 1800s. This article draws on primary sources to present architectural and constructive aspects of these buildings in the cities of Icó and Sobral in the Province of Ceará
